Massacre at Goliad
In 1836, after news of the Alamo reaches Colonel James Fannin’s command at Goliad, brothers Josh and Thomas Buckalew are caught in the collapsing Texian position in south Texas. Mexican forces under Santa Anna close in as the garrison attempts to withdraw and is forced to surrender. Kelton places fictional characters inside the historical catastrophe that ended with the execution of prisoners, using the Goliad campaign to show the confusion, courage and brutality of the Texas Revolution.
