Love’s Fortress
After her art-forger father dies, Dani Sango inherits a book of Native American ledger drawings and asks museum curator Brad Osgood to determine whether it is genuine. Their research leads to Castillo de San Marcos in St Augustine and to the imprisonment of seventy-three Plains Indians there in 1875.
In the historical narrative, prisoner Broken Bow forms a friendship with Sally Jo Harris after she and Luke Worthing abandon plans for overseas mission work to serve the captives. False accusations threaten the relationship and their lives. Dani must discover how that story entered her father’s possession and whether the drawings reveal fraud, family guilt or an attempt to preserve testimony.
