Lady Chatterley’s Lover

After Clifford Chatterley returns from the First World War paralysed, he and his wife Connie settle at Wragby Hall beside the mining community that supports his estate. Clifford devotes himself to writing, business and the management of the pits, while Connie becomes increasingly isolated within a marriage that offers her neither intimacy nor a meaningful place in his life.
Connie begins an affair with Oliver Mellors, the estate’s gamekeeper, and their physical relationship develops into an attachment that crosses the boundaries of class and convention. When she becomes pregnant, both must confront their existing marriages, Clifford’s refusal to release her and the practical difficulty of building a life together outside the social order represented by Wragby.
