Every Knee Shall Bow

AD 316. Imperial persecution has formally ended, but the Roman church remains divided and vulnerable. Bishop Sylvester sends Flavia from her convent to obtain Constantine’s support for two ambitious projects: the construction of major churches and the production of an authorised collection of Christian scriptures. Rex, returning from exile, becomes her protector and companion as the mission takes them across the empire.

Opposition comes from defenders of traditional cults, political opportunists and Christians who distrust the growing alliance between church and emperor. The journey tests Rex and Flavia’s loyalty to one another as well as their understanding of obedience, showing imperial patronage as both an opportunity for the church and a new source of danger.
