Georgie is asked to prepare Jack Altringham, a newly discovered heir raised in the Australian outback, for life in British high society. At Kingsdowne Place, the existing relatives resent Jack’s arrival, and the duke further destabilizes the household by announcing that he may choose a different successor.
When the duke is found stabbed with Jack’s hunting knife, the young heir becomes the obvious suspect. Georgie investigates the family’s finances, resentments and secrets to determine who stood to gain from the death and to prove whether Jack has been framed.
