Marathon

After slavery and exile, Arimnestos returns to a Greece threatened by the expedition sent by Darius I to punish Athens and its allies. The skills that won his freedom now place him among the Plataeans who march to support the smaller Athenian army assembled on the plain of Marathon.

The battle tests more than courage. Arimnestos must fight beside men divided by politics and status against an imperial force with greater resources, while reckoning with the revenge and private loyalties that have shaped his own return. Victory may preserve Greek independence, but it cannot restore what war has already taken from him.
