The Paddy Mayne Trilogy

The Paddy Mayne Trilogy follows Blair ‘Paddy’ Mayne through the creation and wartime development of the Special Air Service. SAS Brothers in Arms covers the improvised North African beginnings of the regiment under David Stirling and Mayne, while SAS Forged in Hell follows the force into Sicily and mainland Italy as it adapts from desert raiding to larger assault operations.

SAS Daggers Drawn concludes the sequence in occupied France after D-Day, where Mayne’s men attack German communications, transport and reinforcements behind the front. Drawing on family papers, diaries and operational records, the trilogy examines Mayne’s leadership, violence and loyalty without separating the regiment’s mythology from the casualties and internal conflicts that created it.
