Brendan

Brendan of Clonfert grows from a wilful child into a monk, teacher and founder during the expansion of Christianity across early medieval Ireland. Refusing to accept a life defined entirely by others, he travels through the island, gathers disciples and establishes religious communities while wrestling with pride, obedience and the demands of faith.

One vision continues to draw him beyond the monasteries he has built: the legendary Isle of the Blessed somewhere across the western ocean. Brendan assembles a small company and sails into unknown waters, where hardship, wonder and uncertainty test whether his quest is a divine calling, an act of human restlessness or the story through which later generations will remember him.
