Series
Share of Summer
Share of Summer is M. M. Kaye's three-volume autobiography, tracing her life from a childhood in British India through education in England, her return to the Raj, years in China and the beginnings of her career as an illustrator and writer. The sequence consists of The Sun in the Morning, Golden Afternoon and Enchanted Evening.
The memoirs combine family history, travel, social observation and the personal experiences later transformed into Kaye's historical novels and mysteries. They are valuable accounts of one British family's colonial world, but their strong nostalgia and privileged viewpoint are part of the historical perspective they preserve.
