Davy Crockett was an American frontiersman, soldier and politician who represented Tennessee in the U.S. House of Representatives. His reputation for hunting, storytelling and frontier independence made him a national folk figure even during his lifetime.

After breaking politically with President Andrew Jackson, Crockett lost his congressional seat and travelled to Texas. He joined the defenders of the Alamo and was killed when Mexican forces under Santa Anna captured the mission in March 1836.
