Aeschylus

Aeschylus was an Athenian dramatist of the fifth century BC and the earliest Greek tragedian whose plays survive in substantial form. A veteran of the Persian Wars, he wrote tragedies including the Oresteia and The Persians, combining mythic material with questions of war, justice and civic order.

In Aeschylus’s Prometheus Bound and Other Plays, this collection brings together four plays traditionally associated with Aeschylus: Prometheus Bound, The Suppliants, Seven Against Thebes and The Persians.
