The Anger of Achilles

by Peter Tonkin Book 3 in the The Trojan Murders series.

4.1(58)

Lyrnessus, around 1190 BCE. Achilles and his Myrmidons occupy the ruined city with Odysseus and Aias, but Princess Briseis is the only survivor of the royal house. When Aias threatens her, Achilles intervenes; Briseis responds by accusing him of taking the city through treachery rather than honourable force. The charge endangers Achilles’s reputation and the unity of the Greek command.

Odysseus has four days to determine who betrayed Lyrnessus before Prince Sarpedon arrives with a Trojan-allied army. Briseis becomes his unwilling partner as they trace the murder of her family and the hidden route by which the city fell. Their inquiry exposes a killer prepared to continue murdering to protect the original act of treason.
