Jerusalem, 586 BC. As Babylonian forces destroy the kingdom of Judah, the prophet Jeremiah conceals the Ark of the Covenant and enters a cave that contains a discovery capable of overturning accepted history. He emerges traumatised, leaving behind a mystery that remains buried for more than two thousand years.

In the modern Middle East, Egyptologist William Blake is hired to examine an isolated Egyptian tomb uncovered by an American mining company far from the recognised royal cemeteries. The burial's architecture, inscriptions and unidentified occupant suggest an impossible connection between Egypt and the fall of Jerusalem. Blake's investigation draws him into corporate secrecy and regional politics as competing interests try to control what the tomb may reveal.
