Heroes

After the fall of Troy, Diomedes sails home expecting to reclaim his throne and the life he left behind. Instead he finds Argos divided and his household turned against him. Betrayal drives the last of the great Achaean warriors into exile, carrying the memory of the war and a dangerous sacred object whose history challenges the heroic account of why the Greeks fought.

Diomedes travels west toward the unfamiliar coasts of Hesperia, where displaced peoples, rival leaders and survivors of Troy are trying to establish new homes. His search for a kingdom becomes a reckoning with the destruction caused by the Greek victory and with the possibility that former enemies may shape the future together. The novel was previously published in English as The Talisman of Troy.
