Hunter Killers

After a Viet Cong attack destroys an ARVN convoy near Bình Ba, Australian and South Vietnamese forces launch a cordon-and-search operation around the commune. Jackman’s unit moves quietly to seal roads and tracks while specialist officers attempt to identify the clandestine organisation supporting the guerrillas. The plan changes when an experienced Viet Cong hunter-killer team turns the operation into a lethal pursuit.

Hunter Killers focuses on the intelligence problem at the centre of the Vietnam War: armed units could be found and fought, but political support, hidden supply routes and local sympathisers were far harder to isolate. The action places Australian infantry alongside ARVN Rangers and shows how a supposedly controlled sweep can fragment into close-range combat in villages, plantations and scrub.
