In 208 CE, former gladiators Drust, Kag and their companions are released from the arena only to be given a mission by the powerful Servilius Structus. They must travel beyond Hadrian’s and Antonine walls into Caledonia, find a woman and her young son, and bring them safely back to Roman territory.
The expedition crosses the path of hostile tribes, Roman soldiers and agents of the Severan court.
