The Oathsworn

The Oathsworn series follows Orm Rurikson from an inexperienced Norwegian youth into the leader of a feared Viking brotherhood in the later tenth century. Bound by an oath made before Odin, the crew travel from Scandinavia and the Baltic to Constantinople, the eastern Mediterranean and the Eurasian steppes while pursuing the lost treasure and sword associated with Attila the Hun.

Across five novels, the Oathsworn survive raids, feuds, sieges, shipwrecks and the ambitions of rulers who are consolidating new kingdoms and adopting Christianity. The later books bring Orm into Scandinavian succession struggles and the early career of Olaf Tryggvason, testing whether the crew’s private bond can survive fame, settlement and royal politics.
