Brothers of the Sands

The Brothers of the Sands trilogy follows Drust, Kag and a band of former gladiators through the last decades of the Severan dynasty. Freed from the arena but still used by powerful patrons, they undertake dangerous assignments from Caledonia in 208 CE to the Syrian frontier and the Alpine province of Rhaetia under Severus Alexander.

Each mission begins as paid work and expands into a struggle shaped by imperial succession, military rebellion and the private networks surrounding Rome’s ruling family. The series combines Roman political intrigue with survival fiction, following men whose loyalty to one another is more reliable than any emperor, official or promise of freedom.
