Procopius was a sixth-century Greek historian and the major narrative source for Justinian’s wars and court.

Procopius of Caesarea served with the general Belisarius and wrote the History of the Wars, Buildings and Secret History. His works cover the Persian, Vandal and Gothic wars, Justinian’s building programme and hostile court gossip.
