Gnaeus Mallius Maximus

Gnaeus Mallius Maximus was a Roman consul whose command ended in disaster at Arausio in 105 BC against the Cimbri and Teutones. The defeat exposed weaknesses in Roman military organisation and helped create the conditions for Marius’s reforms.
