Treachery
First published 2014
Plymouth, August 1585. Francis Drake is assembling a fleet for an expedition against Spain when a man is found dead aboard his flagship. Giordano Bruno and Philip Sidney are drawn into the investigation before the murder can delay the voyage or reveal weakness to England’s enemies.
The inquiry moves through the harbour, taverns and competing interests surrounding the expedition. As evidence points towards espionage and sabotage, Bruno must determine whether the killing is a private crime or part of a larger attempt to cripple Drake’s campaign and alter the approaching war with Spain.
