Circle of Days

Seft, a skilled flint miner, crosses the Great Plain to trade stone and meet Neen, whose herding family offers a possible escape from his violent home. Neen’s sister Joia, a priestess with unusual authority, imagines a monument built from stones larger than any their communities have previously moved or raised.
Drought, migration and conflict divide farmers, herders, miners and woodland people just as Joia and Seft begin organising the labour required for the stone circle. The novel imagines the construction of Stonehenge as a technical, religious and political project whose survival depends on cooperation between communities with competing resources and traditions.
