Jungle Tales of Tarzan
These linked stories return to Tarzan’s youth among the great apes, showing his experiments with language, weapons, belief, friendship and his growing recognition that he is different from the Mangani who raised him. The collection fills the years before the arrival of Jane Porter and the events of Tarzan of the Apes.
The stories deepen Tarzan's childhood by showing how curiosity, imitation and loneliness shape his understanding of both the ape community and the distant human world. Set before the main series begins, they place his youth against the late nineteenth-century era of European intrusion into Africa while keeping the focus on character, instinct and self-discovery.
