In January 1945, Billy Boyle and Piotr Kazimierz are summoned to Havana after a United States naval intelligence officer is murdered. A bomb attack at a beachside meeting is followed by the killing of their Cuban informant, suggesting that both deaths are connected to information someone is determined to keep from the Allies.
Billy and Kaz work with British officials, including Lieutenant Commander Ian Fleming, and seek help within Havana’s criminal underworld. Their inquiry moves through Chinatown, casinos and political networks until gangster Meyer Lansky points them towards the Sicherheitsdienst, raising the possibility that German intelligence is protecting a final wartime secret in Cuba.
