Beasts Beyond the Wall
First published 2019
In 208 CE, former gladiators Drust, Kag and their companions are released from the arena only to be given a mission by the powerful Servilius Structus. They must travel beyond Hadrian’s and Antonine walls into Caledonia, find a woman and her young son, and bring them safely back to Roman territory.
The expedition crosses the path of hostile tribes, Roman soldiers and agents of the Severan court. As the group learns why their human cargo matters, a paid extraction becomes a struggle connected to imperial succession, forcing the ex-gladiators to rely on the skills and loyalty that once kept them alive in the sand.
