Susan C Wilson

Susan C. Wilson is a Scottish author of historical and mythological fiction whose work concentrates on the women of ancient Greece. She holds a degree in journalism from Edinburgh Napier University and a diploma in Classical Studies from the Open University, and has also studied the Minoan and Mycenaean civilisations through the University of Oxford. Her fiction combines classical mythology with an interest in the enduring human motivations behind ambition, desire, loyalty and family conflict.

Wilson is best known for the House of Atreus series. Clytemnestra’s Bind reimagines Clytemnestra as a bereaved wife and protective mother trapped within a violent marriage to Agamemnon, while Helen’s Judgement follows Helen after she leaves Sparta for Troy and becomes blamed for the war fought in her name. The novels shift attention away from celebrated male warriors to women constrained by marriage, dynastic rivalry and patriarchal power, combining psychologically driven storytelling with depictions of Bronze Age palaces, religious rituals and the destructive consequences of the Trojan War.
