SAS Great Escapes

SAS Great Escapes collects documented escape and evasion stories involving members of the Special Air Service and related wartime units. Across five volumes, Damien Lewis reconstructs missions that ended in capture, isolation behind enemy lines or the collapse of planned extraction, then follows the soldiers as they improvised routes back to Allied territory.

The sequence ranges from North Africa and occupied Europe to Italy and prisoner-of-war camps. Its recurring subjects are deception, endurance and the civilian networks that sheltered fugitives at enormous personal risk. Each volume is an independent collection, but together they show how escape planning became an essential part of special-forces operations during the Second World War.
