The Wolf of Kings follows Styrkar the Dane, a surviving housecarl of Harold Godwinson, through the resistance to William the Conqueror after the Battle of Hastings. Oath Bound begins on Senlac Hill in 1066 and turns Styrkar’s loyalty to his dead king into a campaign of personal vengeance against the Norman knights occupying England.

Shield Breaker carries him through Ireland and northern England as rebellion spreads in 1068. Winter Warrior reaches the great resistance of 1069, when Edgar Ætheling seeks Danish support and William answers opposition with the Harrying of the North. Across the trilogy, Styrkar’s desire for revenge is tested against the survival of the communities and companions who depend on him.
