Rome

M. C. Scott’s Rome series follows Sebastos Pantera, an imperial intelligence agent whose missions take him from Nero’s Rome to the eastern provinces and back into the capital during civil war. Set in the same fictional world as the Boudica novels, the sequence combines espionage with the political and military crises that destabilised the Roman Empire between AD 64 and 69.

The four novels move through the Great Fire of Rome, unrest and rebellion in Judaea, the loss of the Twelfth Legion’s eagle and the Year of the Four Emperors. Pantera’s reliance on codes, disguise, persuasion and divided allies places intelligence work beside legionary warfare, imperial succession and religious conflict.
