Constantine’s Empire

Constantine’s Empire follows Brandulf Rex, a Germanic soldier drawn into Roman intelligence work, and Junia Flavia, a senator’s daughter committed to the Christian church, from the civil war of AD 312 into the political and religious upheavals of the mid-320s. Their lives intersect with Constantine’s campaigns against Maxentius and Licinius, the growth of imperial support for Christianity, and a court attempting to govern an empire divided by loyalty, region and belief.

The trilogy combines military adventure, romance and Christian historical fiction. Rather than treating Rome’s religious change as a single conversion, it follows soldiers, aristocrats, bishops and ordinary worshippers as a formerly persecuted church gains access to imperial power. Rex and Flavia’s changing relationship provides the continuing story, while each novel examines a different stage of Constantine’s rise and the contested remaking of Roman public life.
