Russian cryptographer Zivon Marin flees to Britain after opposing the Bolsheviks and offers his expertise to British intelligence. Photographer Lily Blackwell uses advanced retouching techniques to create and detect manipulated images for the war effort. Their work converges when forged photographs become part of an enemy deception campaign, while Zivon searches for news of the brother from whom he was separated during the revolution.
