The Odessa Novels

The Odessa Novels begin in West Germany in 1963, when journalist Peter Miller follows a Holocaust survivor’s diary into a clandestine network protecting fugitive SS officers. More than sixty years later, Revenge of Odessa follows Peter’s grandson Georg as a new generation of extremists uses terrorism, propaganda and political infiltration to pursue the organisation’s ambitions. The Odessa Assassin continues the modern conspiracy with an attempt on the American president.

The Odessa File is Frederick Forsyth’s original 1972 novel; the second and third books were written with Tony Kent and bring the fictionalised network into the politics of 2025 and 2026. Across the sequence, investigative journalism and intelligence work expose how unpunished crimes, inherited ideology and concealed institutions can survive beyond the historical period that created them.
