McGann Saga

The McGann Saga follows an Irish-American seafaring family from 1769 to the Second World War. Harry McGann enters the American Revolution and the creation of the navy; Toby confronts French privateers and Barbary captivity; later generations divide during the Civil War and become involved in Cuba’s struggle against Spain.

The final books carry the family through the First World War, interwar travel and the Pacific conflict. Naval service remains the central inheritance, but each generation encounters a different argument about freedom, empire and national allegiance. Romance and family division repeatedly cross the political boundaries established by war.
