Thomas Fairfax, 3rd Lord Fairfax of Cameron

1612–1671

Thomas Fairfax was Parliament’s leading field commander and the first commander-in-chief of the New Model Army. His victories, especially at Marston Moor and Naseby, were decisive in the First English Civil War.

The Rider of the White Horse portrays Fairfax through military campaigns and his marriage to Anne. The major campaigns and family are historical; domestic dialogue and many connecting incidents are fictionalised.
