Shapur II

Shapur II was a long-reigning Sasanian king who restored Persian power in the fourth century. He fought repeated wars with Rome over Mesopotamia and Armenia, captured Amida and resisted Julian’s invasion, while also campaigning on Iran’s eastern frontiers.
