The Secret of the Kingdom

Jerusalem, around AD 30. Marcus Manilianus, a Roman seeking philosophical certainty, arrives on the day Jesus of Nazareth is crucified. Pontius Pilate asks him to investigate reports that the guarded tomb has been found empty.

Marcus questions disciples, witnesses and people whose lives were changed by Jesus, including Mary Magdalene and Lazarus. His inquiry becomes a personal search for the meaning of the Kingdom and for a place among the earliest followers of the new faith, while Roman authority and Second Temple society define the limits of that search.
