Josephus was a Jewish historian writing in Greek under Roman rule, best known for accounts of the Jewish War and Jewish antiquity.
Flavius Josephus participated in the Jewish revolt against Rome before entering Roman patronage. His Jewish War, Jewish Antiquities, Against Apion and Life provide major evidence for Second Temple Judaism, Herodian politics and the Roman siege of Jerusalem.
