Siege of Seringapatam
1799
The Siege of Seringapatam was the decisive operation of the Fourth Anglo-Mysore War. British and Company forces, supported by allies, attacked Tipu Sultan’s capital after a campaign through southern India.
The fall of the city and Tipu Sultan’s death ended Mysore’s ability to act as a major independent opponent of the East India Company. The result created both triumph and instability: territory, patronage, military rewards and local authority all had to be reorganised after the siege.
The Tiger’s Last Roar leads toward this setting, while An Officer’s Justice begins in the unsettled world created by Seringapatam’s fall.
