Hesiod

Hesiod is traditionally linked with the Theogony and Works and Days. These poems preserve influential accounts of the origins of the gods, the ages of humankind, the moral value of work and the practical anxieties of small-scale rural life.

His work is useful for Classical pages dealing with Greek mythology, early agrarian society, divine order, justice and archaic poetry. It gives readers a different ancient voice from heroic epic, closer to instruction, warning and social observation.
