Phase
1803–1805 CE
After war resumed in 1803, Napoleon assembled the Army of England and large numbers of invasion craft along the Channel coast. Crossing required temporary naval control, making fleet movements and blockade central to the threat.
Britain mobilised regular forces, militia and coastal defences while experimenting with new weapons and intelligence methods. The invasion never took place, but it shaped strategy until the Trafalgar campaign.
Invasion uses the crisis to place Kydd alongside the American inventor Robert Fulton, whose submarines and explosive devices promise a new way to attack the invasion flotilla.
