A. W. Boardman, also published as Andrew Boardman, is a British historian and author based in Yorkshire. He specialises in medieval military history, particularly the Wars of the Roses, and has worked as a lecturer, historical consultant and television contributor. Boardman also contributed to the archaeological study of the Towton battlefield, bringing documentary evidence and material discoveries together in his examination of fifteenth-century warfare.

His historical studies include Towton 1461, The Medieval Soldier in the Wars of the Roses, St Albans 1455, Hotspur: Henry Percy, Medieval Rebel and The Rose, the Bastard and the Saint King. Boardman has also written historical fiction, including The Two Horns of the Moon, a novel about Henry “Hotspur” Percy, and The Last of the Light Brigade, set around the Crimean War and the aftermath of the Charge of the Light Brigade. His writing concentrates on military experience, chivalry, rebellion and the political rivalries that drew soldiers into major conflicts.
