Book
The Love Knot
In 1140, Oliver Pascal finds a village devastated by mercenaries and rescues Catrin, a young widow, together with a boy whose royal parentage makes him politically dangerous. He escorts them to Robert of Gloucester’s household at Bristol, a centre of Empress Matilda’s resistance.
Catrin refuses to let court dependence define her future and begins training as a midwife, despite the suspicion attached to women’s medical knowledge. Her growing relationship with Oliver is threatened by his unresolved trauma and by violent men pursuing the child, forcing both of them to defend love and vocation amid the disorder of the Anarchy.
