Book
Hawker and the King’s Jewel
In August 1485, veteran knight Sir John Hawker serves Richard III while carrying guilt over an earlier deed. The king entrusts him with two secret responsibilities, but Richard’s defeat and death at the Battle of Bosworth Field turn the mission into a flight from the newly victorious Tudors.
Hawker must protect Sir Giles Ellingham, presented as Richard’s illegitimate heir, and safeguard a royal ruby whose reputation makes it both treasure and symbol. Pursued from England towards Venice, he must decide how far loyalty to a dead king can justify further violence and whether completing the mission can offer any form of atonement.
