Sarantine Mosaic

The Sarantine Mosaic is a two-volume historical fantasy inspired by Constantinople during the reign of Justinian I and Theodora. Through the mosaicist Caius Crispus, the series enters an imperial capital of monumental building, chariot factions, theological division, espionage and court ceremony, where artistic patronage is inseparable from political power.

Sailing to Sarantium follows Crispin from a plague-scarred western province to the imperial city and the commission that will define his life. Lord of Emperors expands the story into dynastic conspiracy, eastern diplomacy and Valerius II's attempt to reconquer the lost west. The completed mosaic becomes both an artwork and a witness to the ambition, violence and fragile human loyalties beneath imperial grandeur.
