Warrior of Rome

The Warrior of Rome series follows Marcus Clodius Ballista, an Angle raised within the Roman world who becomes a senior imperial commander during the Crisis of the Third Century. His service carries him from the Persian frontier to Palmyra, the Black Sea, the Eurasian steppe, Rome, Sicily and Gaul as invasion, civil war and separatist regimes divide the empire.

Ballista’s military skill never removes the uncertainty of his position. Court intrigue, family loyalty, religious difference and his origins beyond Rome remain central as each campaign tests whether service to an emperor is the same as service to the empire.
