The Wars of the Roses Saga

The Wars of the Roses Saga begins well before the fifteenth-century conflict, tracing the Plantagenet inheritance from the defeat of Simon de Montfort in 1265. The fictional Bywater family serves successive kings and discovers that royal patronage can restore an estate in one reign and destroy it in the next.

The Royal Hammer follows Prince Edward’s rise and the creation of an elite royal escort. The Squandered Crown moves into Edward II’s court, where Piers Gaveston, Isabella of France and baronial rebellion divide those sworn to the Crown. The sequence establishes the longer dynastic and political background from which later civil war will emerge.
