Somewhere I’ll Find You concerns an actress hiding a secret marriage, while Because You’re Mine follows a young woman who seeks scandal as an escape from an arranged match. The novella I Will adds a comic false courtship shaped by inheritance and family discipline.

The theatre offers women public work and income, but it does not remove the legal and reputational power of marriage. By placing romance among rehearsals, performances and theatrical business, the series contrasts aristocratic respectability with the uncertain independence of professional entertainers.
