War of the League of Cambrai
1508–1516
The League of Cambrai was formed in 1508 against Venice by Pope Julius II, Louis XII of France, Maximilian I and Ferdinand of Aragon. French victory at Agnadello weakened Venice, but the coalition soon fractured as the pope turned against French power in Italy.
The war expanded into a sequence of changing alliances, invasions and battles across northern Italy. It continued beyond the death of Louis XII and merged into the wider Italian Wars.
