Epiphany Rising
January 1400
After Henry Bolingbroke deposed Richard II and became Henry IV in 1399, several former royal favourites planned to attack the new king during the Epiphany celebrations at Windsor. The conspirators included John Holland, Earl of Huntingdon, and Thomas le Despenser.
The plan was exposed before it could be carried out. The participants fled, but several were captured and killed without formal trial, while Richard II died in captivity soon afterwards.
