Battle of Tinchebray

Henry I invaded Normandy to challenge the rule of his elder brother Robert Curthose. Their armies met near Tinchebray in 1106, where Henry’s dismounted knights and infantry defeated the ducal forces.

Robert was captured and remained imprisoned for the rest of his life. The victory brought Normandy under Henry’s control and reshaped the Anglo-Norman political settlement created by the Conquest.

Knight’s Fee brings its fictional squires into the battle, using the succession struggle between the Conqueror’s sons as the point at which friendship, service and inheritance are violently transformed.
